As relatives of four Houstonians slain decades earlier watched, a Harris County judge said she will sign an order to schedule their killer’s execution after weeks of delays over concerns of judicial discretion and an intellectual disability.

Cornelio opted then for Brown to find new counsel to investigate whether he has an intellectual disability, rather than sign the execution order. The prosecutors will ask the Texas Department of Criminal Justice whether a date between Feb. 28 and March 10 is available.
