Multiple reports state Fener – who reportedly watched Jota on several occasions during his Celtic days – were understood to be keen, however, two factors have left Jota being reduced a transfer non-starter before the window closes later this week. Firstly, the fact Jota would not be able to play in the Europa Conference League as his signing would come after the deadline.
And the second appears to come down to football as coach Ismail Kartail would prefer former Bournemouth and Everton forward Josh King to remain instead of bringing in Jota. With Turkey appearing a no go it it set to be a brutal few months for a player who has detailed at length how much his two years in Glasgow offered a confidence surge after struggling at Benfica and failing to sparkle at Valladolid.
