come at the justice system from completely opposite perspectives. How was it for you shifting modes fromwhich aims to put the audience on the prosecutor’s side?
obviously I knew the story and I had read the script. Even when we got to the end of the second episode, some part of me still wanted to believe those kids weren’t going to get convicted. We all know that that’s not true. And frankly, I know why that is: It’s more convenient for my white self to believe that that injustice wasn’t going to happen than to confront the fact that it did.
I know you’re a Canadian living in the U.S.—I am too—so this is your chance to just go off on the profit motive in private health insurance. You had a baby last spring, so you got to spend more time with her than most parents do in those early months. Was it hard, given that, to go back to work?
