Josh Hartnett on why he was attracted to the 'bizarre concept' of the 2002 abstinence comedy '40 Days and 40 Nights.'
star reflected on the sex comedy that helped solidify his early career. “It was a different time,” Hartnett explained. “There were a lot of kind of sexy comedies coming out at the time, and what I appreciated about this one is that it was about abstinence from sex. Basically this ridiculous concept of losing your mind through not being able to do the deed.
This included an influx of money at the studio from a new partnership; their recent films had been hits; young comedies like mine were connecting at the time; a few bankable actors in the age range wanted to play the lead; the executive happened to like the concept/script; and that the producer was hungry enough that when he hit road blocks, he found other ways to keep moving forward.”In the video, Hartnett continued to explain why he enjoyed the screenplay.
