The Commanders’ postgame celebration in their locker room following a preseason victory Friday included a new member with Josh Harris, and Ron Rivera made sure to recognize him.
Harris’ purchase from Snyder — for a record $6.05 billion — was finalized July 20, adding to the 76ers and Devils that he already owns.
It also marked the end to Snyder’s tenure, which began in 1999 but was filled with scandals and an investigation for sexual harassment.Josh Harris attended the Commanders’ preseason opener on Friday against the Browns.For a struggling franchise that has made the postseason just once since 2016, in addition to its off-field issues, the sale provided some much–needed change, and though it’s just one preseason game, Harris’ presence has appeared to energize the players and fans.
When Rivera tossed the game ball to Harris, players started cheering for the new owner to give his short speech.. “It was a preseason game and we told him a win’s a win and you can always keep this one. We gave it to him and the guys were pretty fired up and looking forward to the opportunity to give him one for real.”Washington led 14-2 at halftime after Sam Howell connected with Jahan Dotson on a 26-yard pass and quarterback Jacoby Brissett scored on a 12-yard run.. “But it was amazing.
