We’re told the restaurant — which serves fine food with a side of culinary theatrics — gave the hotel 30 days notice, causing a panic behind the scenes.
Celebrity chef Jose Andres’ popular The Bazaar restaurant at the SLS in Miami is closing, a source tells Page Six.
We hear the spot told the hotel in May that it wanted out by June, giving the hotel just 30 days notice in May. “The hotel was frantic,” says a source, noting the SLS celebrated its 10-year anniversary in June and didn’t want an empty space. We’re told the upscale restaurant — which serves fine food with a side of culinary theatrics like croquettes in a sneaker-shaped container and an ice-cream-style cone stuffed with caviar — has agreed to stay a little longer.
Area Vice President of Operations for Ennismore, the mother company of the SLS brand, Simon Sorpresi says they won’t be closing up shop until next year. “Upon the successful completion of its agreement, The Bazaar by José Andrés will be closing at the SLS South Beach in 2023,” Sopresi tells us. “We are extremely proud of our ten year-long partnership and our impact on the local community. We want to express our gratitude to our long-time friend José Andrés and his team for a decade of culinary excellence here at SLS South Beach.”Andres isn’t slowing down though.
