Preston North End defender Jordan Storey has admitted that last season’s loan move to Sheffield Wednesday came as a surprise to him but it has made him more determined to earn his place in Ryan Lowe’s starting XI.
"I think this season will be massive for me and it's one I'm looking forward to. It was a bit of a surprise at first but it's football, you've just got to get on with it.
"Things can change in short circumstances. As much as I didn't want to go out on loan it was something that I just accepted and got on with really. "It was a great club, I really enjoyed it out there, the fans, the coaches and the players, I have nothing but good things to say about them. I was grateful for the opportunity out there and I learned a lot from it."I'm just going to give it my best shot and hope I can do enough to cement my place there. I'm going to take it step by step”
Storey has high aims for this season and is targeting the play-offs again, having reached them in League One with“I want to play as many games as possible and get into that top half, the top six."I think we're only going to get stronger as a team with the more signings we're going to get.”
