The defender told Onana not to dwell on his mistake against Bayern Munich and compared his start at Man Utd to David de Gea's.
Jonny Evans has commended Andre Onana for requesting to speak to the media after his howler against Bayern Munich but says the Manchester United goalkeeper ought not to be overly harsh on himself.
Evans said he had seen many such situations across his long career, including some of his own doing, and insisted Onana should not be too critical of himself. He compared his start to that of predecessor David de Gea, who made a string of errors in his first season at the club before going on to enjoy a lengthy stay.
“He’s replacing David de Gea who was here for a long, long time and I even remember David at the start of his career at Manchester United maybe going through a bit of a tough time to settle in and we saw what career he ended up going on to have for this club.”
