A Place in the Sun host Jonnie Irwin has received support from fans after sharing an honest update over the weekend.. The 49-year-old has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has been open with his diagnosis to encourage others to "make the most of every day".

Jonnie, who is also known for his role on Escape to the Country, has recently been renovating his family home and keeping fans up to date on Instagram, Liverpool Echo reports. On Saturday, September 30 he posted a selfie as he shared his struggles due to the weather. He said: "It seems like every time we do any roof related work it smashed down with rain! Jess is underneath with buckets and I’m trying in vain to seal from above. Oh the joys of renovating! #renovation #weather".

Fans have been quick to send positive messages in the comments section. Jen said: "What a team! Well done Johnnie and Jess!" and Marie said: "You are amazing".
