Jon Jones already has an opponent in mind for his first title defense 👀 UFC285
Jon Jones submits Ciryl Gane to claim UFC heavyweight title; Alexa Grasso shocks Valentina ShevchenkoJon Jones defeated Ciryl Gane via first-round guillotine submission to claim the UFC’s heavyweight championship at UFC 285 on Saturday in Las Vegas. The longtime light heavyweight champion joined Conor McGregor, Amanda Nunes, Daniel Cormier and Henry Cejudo as the only fighters in promotion history to hold titles in different divisions.
“Y’all want to see me beat up Stipe ?” Jones said in the postfight interview. “One thing I know about the UFC is we give the fans what they want to see. Stipe Miocic, I hope you’re training, my guy. You’re the greatest heavyweight of all time. That’s what I want — I want you real bad.” Grasso, of Mexico, was likely trailing 2-1 on the scorecards heading into the fourth round. Shevchenko attempted a spinning back fist and missed and Grasso quickly took her back and forced her to the mat. Grasso sunk in the rear-naked choke 4:34 into the round. She has won five fights in a row. Both fighters called for it after the fight and it makes a lot of sense: Stipe Miocic is next for Jones.
