Jon Bernthal, the actor reprising his role as Frank Castle in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, might have revealed a major spoiler about the return of Claire Temple.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Jon Bernthal might have accidentally revealed too much. Bernthal is reprising his role as Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day after originally playing the character in Daredevil season 2 on Netflix.
The actor later returned for Daredevil: Born Again. And, now, he may have dropped a new spoiler regarding the return of another character from the series. During an interview with Noovie, Bernthal referenced a scene in which Frank wakes up while Peter Parker is recovering in a hospital. That detail is very similar to insider reports and fan theories that claimed Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple appears in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Claire is a nurse who treated many heroes throughout Netflix's Daredevil. The hospital sequence Bernthal described would confirm the rumors about the character joining the MCU. The comment came after Holland and Bernthal were asked if it is more difficult to convincingly laugh or wake up on camera. While answering, Bernthal referenced a recent ADR session for the upcoming superhero film and brought up the hospital scene.
Apparently, the Punisher wakes up in the hospital while Spider-Man was being treated. He joked that while the scene was overall very well done, he wasn't sure if he did a very convincing job pretending that he had just woken up.
However, Holland disagreed with his co-star's statement. He told Bernthal that he did a good job in the scene. He explained how after he watched the final cut of Spider-Man: Brand New Day he thought,"That’s a great take.
" Claire was created by Archie Goodwin and George Tuska. The character first appeared in Luke Cage, Hero for Hire #2, which was released in August 1972. In the comic books, she is a doctor and one of the titular character's very first love interests. She has also appeared in several other Marvel Comics series, such as All-New, All-Different Marvel and Captain America: Sam Wilson.
