England star Harry Kane is now being backed for the Ballon d'Or following his move to Bayern Munich.
Kane completed a move to the Bundesliga champions a couple weeks in a deal reportedly worth around €100million.England's all-time leading scorer now has the opportunity to win some major silverware for the first time in his career after failing to do so at Tottenham Hotspur.
Germany legend Jurgen Klinsmann believes Kane will put himself in the contention for the prestigious award if he helps Bayern win the UEFA Champions League. “I think joining Bayern will give Harry a better chance of being recognised in the Ballon d’Or, especially if he can have success in the Champions League and Euro 2024," Klinsmann told the Mirror.
"The vote for the Ballon d’Or was opened up to non-European players for the first time in 1995 - and obviously I came second. “George Weah was a fantastic player, but he admitted to me later on that he felt he had an advantage because he played for AC Milan and he believed being with a club of that magnitude helped him win the vote.Kane bagged a goal and an assist on his Bundesliga debut last week as the Bavarians thrashed Werder Bremen 4-0.
