The Salt Lake Tribune is searching for community members to join its editorial board.

Opinion sections of the The Salt Lake Tribune.As a nonprofit news organization, we are committed to publishing journalism that’s more reflective of our community and that builds understanding., a small group that meets weekly to discuss Utah’s most pressing issues and provide a longer view, in the form of a published editorial, on where we’re headed.

Or where Utah should be headed. Oftentimes, the editorial board is joined by guests who have expertise in certain areas, from education and government to the environment and transportation. Opinion writer George Pyle crafts one or more editorials, which are published across Tribune platforms throughout the week, after the board meets. On our best days, we elevate an exchange of information and ideas. We seek to ground them in longtime principles of The Tribune, such as transparency and accountability.Each year, we welcome a volunteer who is eager to participate in a conversation about what’s important to Utahns. You should be curious and knowledgeable about how our state works, and you should have a willingness to ask questions. You must be open to considering a multitude of perspectives, and being a good listener is critical. You may be asked to write yourself , though the decision will be yours. The board, which is separate from the newsroom, typically meets for one hour on Wednesday afternoons. Some meetings are in person, others are virtual. The position is not paid, and the commitment would be for a one-year term on the board. You must live in Utah.is committed to creating a space where Utahns can share ideas, perspectives and solutions that move our state forward. We rely on your insight to do this.
