levels were the lowest they had been in 20 years. But the COVID-19 pandemic shifted that downward trend—in 2020, more than 38 million individuals, including nearly 12 million children, lived in food-insecure households, up from 35 million in 2019. And unfortunately, things haven’t yet improved.
In fact, nearly half of Feeding America’s food banks have seen an increase in the number of people served in recent months.
