With the exit of Bersatu from Harapan, the state assembly is hung 28 to 28.
Johor Umno is confident that there can be a new state government thanks in part to a promised defection from PKR.Umno has 14 state seats, MIC two, and PAS one. Bersatu meanwhile has 11 seats., Johor Umno chief Hasni Mohammad however was confident that they can secure the numbers to tip the scales.
"We should be getting one from PKR... this was promised to us by their boss from KL. "We are just out of Harapan, but whether or not we want to form a state government with Umno, that has not been discussed," he said. Bersatu pulled out of Harapan yesterday, following an attempted coup which has resulted in Putrajaya now being governed solely by Dr Mahathir Mohamad as interim prime minister.
