JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) foiled a drugs smuggling operation and seized drugs worth RM2.67mil to a neighbouring country in the waters off Parit Samsu, Muar, on Monday (June 1).
Johor MMEA maritime operations deputy director Capt Sanifah Yusof said that the incident occurred around 2.10am when an MMEA boat was conducting a patrol as part of"Op Benteng" in the area.
“Upon noticing the authorities, the boat driver sped away towards a mangrove area and threw overboard two huge sacks,” he said when met by reporters at the Johor MMEA office at Menara Tabung Haji here.
