JOHOR BARU: Johor MCA will give its full support to newly minted Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad in serving the public and to develop the state, said its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

“Hasni is professional, calm, moderate and always close with the rakyat, ” said Dr Wee, also the MCA president.“We discussed the current political scenario and also to hear his vision to develop the state.

“Johor MCA will give its full support towards Hasni’s leadership and to safeguard the rakyat of various races together with the state government, ” said Dr Wee in a Facebook post yesterday. The Ayer Hitam MP and MCA president said he had known the Benut assemblyman for more than 20 years as both were in the public engineering field.

Hasni, 61, was sworn in as the 18th Mentri Besar of Johor before Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar at Istana Bukit Serene on Friday.The appointment of Hasni followed the announcement by the Johor Palace on Thursday regarding the formation of a new coalition government in the state, comprising Umno, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia , PAS and MIC.

The previous Pakatan Harapan government made up of PKR, DAP, Bersatu and Amanah lost its majority after Bersatu pulled out of the coalition.
