JOHOR BARU, May 2 — Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission investigators have arrested a headmaster to assist a probe into his alleged role in soliciting and accepting bribes amounting to more than RM10,000.

According to sources, the 56-year-old male suspect was arrested by Kluang MACC branch officers and detained at the agency’s Kluang office at 10.30am today after he arrived to give his statement. “It is understood that the suspect had asked for and accepted bribes from a canteen operator from the same school.

“Investigators believe that the alleged bribes were as an incentive to facilitate the claims under the Supplementary Food Plan implemented throughout the past year,” revealed the sources. Meanwhile, Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest of the suspect and said the case was being investigated under Section 17 of the MACC Act 2009.
