Johnny Gaudreau ’s wife posted a heartfelt and emotional tribute to her late husband Wednesday on what would have been their third wedding anniversary, calling it “one of the best days of my life” as family, friends and fans continued to mourn
Meredith Gaudreau posted a tribute on Instagram to her husband with a carousel of photos from the couple’s special day. “I never post this much but John deserves it,” Meredith wrote as the caption. “3 years ago today I became yours forever. One of the best days of my life, including the night we got engaged and the days we brought our babies into the world. The day I met you I remember saying to myself, omg I’m going to marry him. And every day after that kept getting better and better.
Johnny, 31, and his brother Matthew, 29, were killed last Thursday night while the pair were biking in their hometown of Oldmans Township, New Jersey on County Road 51. Meredith’s Instagram post wasn’t the only tribute she posted to her late husband, who played 11 seasons in the NHL, spending nine with the Flames and the past two with the Blue Jackets.
