Hairspray director John Waters has shared another update regarding the current status of his Aubrey Plaza-led Liarmouth movie,
, Waters admitted that his Liarmouth movie continues to have difficulty in finding financiers to support the project, which was first unveiled back in February. The story centers around a con artist and compulsive liar named Marsha Sprinkle, who’s hated by everybody including her family. Her situation changes with the arrival of one insane man.
“I’ll say it one more time, and there is no scoop here, there’s nothing new I’m telling you, but… optioned the book,” he shared. “I wrote the script, they liked it, Aubrey likes the script, wants to be in it, I want her to be in it, and every person said, ‘No, we don’t have a penny of the budget.’ That is where it is today. Hopefully that will change.
In addition, Plaza is also expected to serve as an executive producer on Lionsgate Television’s upcoming series adaptation of, based on Plaza’s 2022 crime thriller movie. She will next be seen in the highly-anticipated Disney+ series Agatha All Along, where she’ll be playing the role of Rio Vidal.Maggie Dela Paz has been writing about the movie and TV industry for more than four years now.
