The GLAAD Award nominated documentary podcast series is set to debut a second season on June 11. The new batch of episodes focuses on the Pines, a section of the island notable for its parties and exclusivity.
But per the team, the second season will dive behind the music and lore to take a closer look at the community that helps “keep the fantasy alive. ” In doing so, series creator Jess Rothschild, who executive produces and narrates the episodes, snagged a list of notable names to help tell the story, including filmmaker, deejay Lina Bradford, Tony-winning Broadway producer and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, Peloton breakout star Cody Rigsby, comedian Jay Jurden, and Fire Island deejays Susan Morabito and Robbie Leslie.
Thethat Fire Island was “intrinsically formative” to her identity as a gay person growing up in New York.
“As my obsession with the history and culture of Fire Island intensified over the years, I began collecting interviews with notable Fire Island figures, past and present,” Rothschild explained of the gay mecca. “This new season has allowed me to delve into stories that have yet to be told. ” The first two episodes of season two drop June 11, with a weekly drop from there.
