Acting head of Customs and Border Protection John Sanders resigns as agency contends with surge of Central American families at U.S. border
WASHINGTON—The acting head of the main agency tasked with policing the U.S. border is resigning, becoming another key Trump administration immigration official to depart.
John Sanders had been acting as head of U.S. Customs and Border Protection since its commissioner, Kevin McAleenan, was tapped to take over as acting Homeland Security secretary in April. He had been its chief operating officer and a longtime ally of Mr. McAleenan’s.
