In 1970, the Clerics of St. Viator moved forward on a plan to develop affordable housing on its Arlington Heights property occupied by, among other things, its high school. The Catholic order contracted then-new nonprofit developer Metropolitan Housing Development Corp., or MHDC, to construct racially integrated affordable housing.
