Harbaugh still is expected to sit for an interview with the Giants and at least some of the other coach-needy NFL teams ., but maybe Green Bay president Ed Policy and coach Matt LaFleur won’t be able to hammer out a contract extension this week. That would be a spot to watch for Harbaugh, though it appears that LaFleur is safe.Notably absent from that group — the Dolphins, who were considered a significant contender with the Giants for Harbaugh’s services. So maybe he won’t consider them after all. Harbaugh “is trying to determine who to meet with later this week and into next week before making a decision,” according to ESPN. In addition to an in-person interview Tuesday with McCarthy — the former Packers and Cowboys coach — the Giants are scheduled to conduct a via chat interview that day with Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. As for the Falcons, they have a murky quarterback situation with Michael Penix, the eighth overall draft pick in 2024, since he is hurt yet again. They just hired their former star quarterback Matt Ryan to be their chief football decision maker.
