In a world where cable news pundits and social media warriors seem to exist in 2025 simply to henpeck to death anyone who hasn’t enthusiastically enlisted in the Trump resistance, Fetterman patiently dismantled their extremely narrow view — calling Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s prosecution of Donald Trump politically motivated and defending his own right to execute his job as he sees fit. He did it all without raising his voice or, I suspect, his blood pressure. “Whether that’s a Democrat going after a Republican or a Republican going after a Democrat, I like to think I call it strikes and balls because the judicial system has to remain impartial. That’s really the cornerstone of our society,” he said of Bragg, who passed on prosecuting real criminals in the streets of New York City but threw the book at Trump. John Fetterman, in his trademark black hoodie and shorts, sat inside the Rotunda of the Capitol for Trump’s swearing-in. “I’m on record criticizing, going after Hunter Biden. And I also agree that the trial in this city, in New York, was politically motivated,” Fetterman said.Fetterman’s appearance on 'The View' underscored how he is unmoved by team jerseys. John Fetterman won hearts and minds on both sides of the aisle with his stalwart support of Israel, including waving flags at pro-Palestinian protesters. In 2022, when he ran for his Senate seat that year, I was horrified that a man so seemingly diminished was off to Capitol Hill. And while I know I disagree with Fetterman on certain issues now, and will in the future, I’ll respect his fearlessness in the way he does business. And his willingness to speak to anyone — rather than burrow in his partisan warren, like so many creatures of our swamp. We need more Fettermans in politics today. But few have his conviction, common sense or, let’s face it, cojones.
