UPDATE: RosemaryConnors has the latest on John Fetterman's condition after he suffered a stroke. She also takes a look at how his hospitalization is impacting the U.S. Senate race:

The Fetterman campaign has yet to reveal a timetable for when he could be out of the hospital.

The race to replace retiring Sen. Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania features three politicians seeking higher office: Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta, U.S. Rep Conor Lamb. Hedge fund CEO Dave McCormick and TV's Dr. Mehmet Oz are the top polling candidates on the Republican side.Fetterman said in the statement Sunday that he had a stroke that was caused by a clot from his heart being in “an A-fib rhythm for too long.

Dr. Donald Lloyd-Jones, a cardiologist and chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University, said clots can be removed with “clot-busting” drugs or, more commonly, by extracting the clot “mechanically” by inserting a catheter through a big artery in the groin. In that abnormal rhythm, the upper chambers beat so fast that they can't contract like they normally do. As a result, they don’t move blood effectively, so the blood can stagnate in the upper chambers and form a clot, Lloyd-Jones said.
