Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT John Cena just had an odd nude moment at the 2024 Oscars, but this gag actually picked the wrong actor. While the John Cena joke was hilarious, there was a much more obvious pick for this Oscars bit that actually references another 2023 film.
In the leadup to the Academy Award for Best Costume Design, 2024 Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel made a reference to a famous incident at the 46th Academy Awards in which a streaker ran across the stage. John Cena then appeared completely nude, using only the envelope to cover himself, with him then announcing the nominees for the Academy Award for Best Costume Design.
While John Cena's humurous persona allowed this joke to work, actor Barry Keoghan should've been the one to pull it off. Having Keoghan present this award would've perfectly tied into the ending of Saltburn, in which he famously ran around the Saltburn estate nude. Thus, having Keoghan participate in this joke means that the Oscars could've referenced this streaker moment while also referencing one of Saltburn's most iconic scenes.
