Representatives of the International Student Broadcasting Championship, from Australia, visited John Carroll University on Monday (April 14) to present WJCU with its 'Station of the Year' award, emblematic of the world's top college radio station.
University Heights Mayor Michael Dylan Brennan, left, presented WJCU Director Jasen Sokol with a proclamation that made Monday, April 14, "WJCU Station of the Year Day" in the city.On Monday , it was time to celebrate that accomplishment.
The trophy presentation took place in the afternoon in JCU’s D.J. Lombardo Student Center, and was broadcast live on WJCU. In the audience was a spirited crowd of students, faculty, staff, and alumni. “This year alone, they raised over $81,000 in our annual Radiothon to support WJCU. They’ve truly taken the station to the next level.”
“It’s clear that in 2024, JCU connected with audiences better than any other,” he said. “I look forward to JCU and ISBC building a lasting relationship.”The ISBC also led a panel discussion Monday in Donahue Auditorium titled “The Future of Media: Global Perspectives and Local Voices,” during which its representatives discussed everything from emerging career paths in media to advice on how students can become the next ISBC winners.
