Fox is renewing its hit game show, The 1% Club, for a second season with a new host. Joel McHale will take over hosting duties from Patton Oswalt, who led the first season. McHale brings his comedic talent and experience hosting reality competitions to the show. Season 2 will be exclusive to Fox, after Season 1 aired on both Prime Video and Fox.

Fox is bringing back its hit game show , The 1% Club , for a second season, and with a change at the helm. Patton Oswalt , who hosted the first season, will be stepping down, paving the way for Community star Joel McHale to take over as host. This marks McHale's third show on the network, as he also stars in the comedy series Animal Control and hosts the cooking competition Crime Scene Kitchen.

Season 2 will be a Fox exclusive, marking a shift from Season 1, which was initially ordered by Prime Video and aired episodes on the Fox network a day earlier. The 1% Club, based on the British game show of the same name hosted by Lee Mack, features a unique twist on the typical trivia format. Contestants are challenged to use logic rather than recall to answer increasingly difficult questions. 100 participants from across the country compete for a chance to win $100,000. The final question tests their mettle, with only 1% of Americans having answered it correctly. Oswalt's comedic and dramatic talents in Season 1 propelled the series to success on both broadcast and streaming platforms. Fox is confident that McHale will continue this momentum. McHale boasts a strong Emmy-nominated resume, including recent roles in The Bear and It's a Wonderful Knife, adding to his experience as Jeff Winger and now Frank Shaw. 'I am 1,000,000% excited to be partnering with Fox to host The 1% Club,' McHale said in a statement. 'I absolutely love the show and love the game play to the 10x and guarantee my hair, makeup, and wardrobe will look great at least 68 percent of the time.” The reasons behind Oswalt's departure from the series remain unclear. However, McHale's experience hosting reality competitions, such as E!'s House of Villains and Fox's Crime Scene Kitchen, suggests he is well-prepared for the challenge. Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn expressed enthusiasm for McHale's return, stating, “Joel’s outstanding comedic timing and hosting charm already make him a standout talent here at Fox, and now — building on The 1% Club’s strong first year on the network — we’re bringing his unrivaled energy, irreverence and charisma to season two. We look forward to expanding on our successful relationship with Joel and continuing our partnership with the incredible production teams at BBC Studios and Magnum.”The original international format for The 1% Club was created by Dean Nabarro and Andy Auerbach, who also serve as executive producers on the U.S. series alongside Ryan O’Dowd and Krystal Whitney for BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions. Wes Kauble, with a wealth of reality competition experience, including co-creating the ongoing Beat Shazam, serves as the showrunner. His resume also includes work on Easy Bake Battle, Cherries Wild, Let's Ask America, and Prime Video's hit Travis Kelce-hosted Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?. The 1% Club Season 1 is currently streaming on Prime Video. Stay tuned to Collider for more information about Season 2 as it becomes available
