One of President Joe Biden's top economic advisers has announced he is leaving the White House this week.White House Senior adviser Gene Sperling announced his plans on Monday to step down from the Biden administration and instead plans to work with Vice President Kamala Harris's 2024 presidential campaign.
Biden also thanked Sperling's family, and said 'They should know our nation is stronger and more just because of the families that Gene has spent every day fighting for over the past three-and-a-half years.'Prior to the announcement, stock markets across Asia plunged on Monday following weak jobs data coming out of the U.S., sparking fears of a recession in the world's largest economy.
