WASHINGTON — Joe Biden pardoned his son Hunter Sunday night, a reversal for the president, who previously stated he would not use his executive authority to pardon his son or commute his sentence. Hunter Biden was scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 12 for his conviction on federal gun charges and on Dec. 16 for federal tax evasion charges.
The president issued a ‘full and unconditional pardon’ for any offenses Hunter Biden has committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014, to December 1, 2024, according to the White House statement. Biden expressed his belief that politics has interfered with the justice system and led to a miscarriage of justice, and he also addressed his son’s struggles with addiction, stating that his political opponents were trying to 'break' him
