The Houstonian was among three mothers that a GOP-led House committee heard from during a hearing criticizing President Joe Biden’s border policies.
The mother of a 12-year-old Houston girl killed in June testified before the U.S. House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, prodding Congress to do more to change border policies that she said led to her daughter’s death. “She was an innocent kid doing kid things, she did not deserve to have her life ripped away from her and our family,” Alexis Nungaray said about her daughter, Joceyln . “She had her entire life ahead of her.
Both men were 'illegally present' in the United States and previously had been apprehended by Border Patrol agents in South Texas, according to a statement ICE released shortly after they were arrested. In her testimony, Alexis Nungaray said the men should not have been released by the Border Patrol. “I come to you all as a grieving mother, to please help make this country make a change for the greater good,” she said.
