Joburg school suspends learners for playing ‘rape-game’

Two boys, in Grade 8 and 9, were suspended from Hoërskool Die Fakkel after an incident on Tuesday involving a game they allegedly played and fears that a fellow learner might have been raped in the process.

The Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson, Steve Mabona, confirmed it was aware of a rape allegation that allegedly took place at the school. “A fellow learner was allegedly forced to participate in the game but refused, and he reported the matter to the principal.
