Alexandra residents brought the township to a standstill last month, demanding better services.

Alexandra protest inquiry set to start Monday

Joburg City Manager Ndivhoniswani Lukhwareni said claims that the level of service delivery, has dropped since the 2016 local government elections, are untrue. "What I would want the Human Rights Commission and Public Protector to be aware of is that this job is humongous. It's for us alone,” said Lukhwareni.

“There was question seemed to suggest that level of services have dropped since 2016, which might not necessarily be the case.”Lukhwareni is appearing before the South African Human Right Commission's inquiry, into possible human rights violations in the township.
