KOTA TINGGI: An unemployed man has been arrested after he allegedly posted several insulting remarks targeting the Johor Royal family, as well as the police on social media.
Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Ashmon Bajah said the 38-year-old suspect was arrested around 12.30am on Friday at a house in Kampung Lepau near Pengerang here.“He also made similar posts about Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, ” he said in a statement here on Friday.
Supt Ashmon added that police also seized a mobile phone belonging to the suspect, who also tested positive for methamphetamine during the arrest. He pointed out that checks on the suspect also revealed no prior records, while he was currently being remanded until April 20 to assist with the investigations.
Supt Ashmon said the case was being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
