Honda’s Joan Mir says he has “zero regrets” about his crashes at the MotoGP United States Grand Prix, despite not finishing a Sunday race in 2026 yet. The 2020 world champion was on for a potential sprint podium at COTA last weekend when he fell while chasing KTM’s Pedro Acosta.
The error proved even more disappointing, as Acosta was given a tyre pressure penalty after the sprint, stripping him of third place.was then running inside the top six in the grand prix when he crashed out again, bringing his DNF tally to three from three in 2026.Explaining the crash on Sunday at COTA, Mir said it was “the consequence of being at the limit of the bike”, and has “zero regrets”. “Well, today has been a bit of a consequence of just being on the limit of the bike,” he told the official MotoGP website.“That’s a bit the thing. We have to analyse well what happened because it was quite unexpected, a little bit like yesterday.“In these three races, we’ve always shown good potential, and to be consistently in that top five. But, we are not ready for that yet.“That’s a bit the reality of it. So, just we will work with the team together to move on from this situation.“I was pushing, and when you push at 150% these things can happen. So, zero regrets. Just learn the lesson and learn from the mistakes.”In 59 official starts with Honda since joining the marque in 2023, Mir has failed to finish 35 grands prix.He has now also registered five stints of three or more grand prix retirements since 2023, with his worst stretch a run of four successive non-finishes in 2025 between the American and French Grands Prix. While this form has been costly in terms of results, it now looks like it has ended Mir’s hopes of remaining a Honda rider beyond this season.At LCR, Diogo Moreira and Johann Zarco have contracts in place for 2027.
