The Johannesburg Metro Police Department has warned the public of smash and grab incidents in the Sandton area.
Motorists and pedestrians have been urged to exercise extreme caution along Grayston Drive and surrounding areas. JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says the warning comes ahead of the Redbull F1 Showrun on Sunday when heavy traffic is expected in the area. “To minimise the chances of becoming a victim, motorists can use the following precautions: you can lock your doors and roll up your windows even if stopped for a short time, keep your doors locked. Minimise distractions while driving, such as using your phone or eating and don’t leave valuables in plain sight, keep your belongings out of sight, even if you are leaving your car for a short time.
