The Los Angeles Lakers are hiring JJ Redick in a four-year deal as their next head coach, sources confirmed to CBS Sports' Bill Reiter.Redick's hiring comes after UConn coach Dan Hurley turned down a six-year, $70 million offer.Redick has not coached at the professional or amateur level, but he is a 15-year NBA veteran, and most recently an ESPN TV analyst.
He saw success on the court and in the media roles he's taken on, hosting a podcast during his playing career and as an acclaimed ESPN broadcaster. Redick was one of the first names in the pool for a Los Angeles Lakers head coach, and after Hurley rejected the offer, the organization circled back to Redick. According to CBS Sports, Redick has been on the candidate list of NBA teams since at least last summer.
