Former President Jimmy Carter is receiving praise and messages of well wishes on social media after his grandson said he is 'coming to the end.'Carter, 99, who has lived longer after leaving the White House than any former president in U.S. history, entered hospice care at his home in Georgia in February 2023.
His 1980 loss in a landslide to Ronald Reagan led to his decades of advocacy work for democracy, public health and human rights via The Carter Center. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his 'untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.
