The Miami Heat have suspended Jimmy Butler for two games after he missed a team flight on Wednesday, according to ESPN. Butler intended to join the Heat in Milwaukee, where they were scheduled to play the Bucks that evening, but the team instructed him to remain home for the entirety of their two-game road trip. The Heat are set to return from their road trip on Monday. This marks the second suspension for Butler this season.
He previously served a seven-game suspension on January 3rd for conduct detrimental to the team. He returned from that suspension on January 17th and has only managed to score 39 points in the three games since. Butler's desire to leave Miami has been vocal, both publicly and privately, and the Heat are actively seeking to trade the six-time All-Star before the February 6th trade deadline. Butler is averaging 17 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game across 25 appearances for the Heat this season. The Heat (21-21) currently hold the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
