Drew Weisholtz is a reporter for TODAY Digital, focusing on pop culture, nostalgia and trending stories. He has seen every episode of “Saved by the Bell” at least 50 times, longs to perfect the crane kick from “The Karate Kid” and performs stand-up comedy, while also cheering on the New York Yankees and New York Giants.

Jim Gaffigan has been open about using a GLP-1 amid his 50-pound weight loss, and the comedian says he has no plans on stopping its use. Gaffigan appeared on the March 24 episode of Craig Melvin's new podcast, 'Glass Half Full.

' During the interview, Craig asked the comedian if he's still taking a GLP-1 shot, which Gaffigan previously said was Mounjaro. “I am,” Gaffigan said. “It’s weird. It’s just something that’s in the background of my life at this point where I will take it definitely because I’m still paranoid that I’m going to feel nauseous.' He clarified that he's not using it to shed more pounds. 'I’m not using it with the expectation of losing more weight,' he said. 'It’s just, I don’t trust my own behavior.' Craig said he tried an appetite suppressant but was turned off by how it cut off his cravings for any food. Gaffigan said that’s why it helps him. “Well, that’s where it works really well for me, because I would jokingly say that it made me — it didn’t remove it, it would just make me consume like a human, as opposed to a dog,” he said. Gaffigan, who wrote a few books with his wife, then recalled how he would nosh while they worked together. “ the morning, we would wake up to get our kids to school. And there would be, like, four Triscuits boxes. We, meaning mostly me, I would plow through three of them,' he said. 'No one does that, right?' 'So for me, it’s like, I hope it’s the miracle drug that people think it is, because if it can suppress compulsive behavior, that would be great,' he added. 'But for me, it makes me behave like a human which is amazing.” Gaffigan discussed his 50-pound weight loss in his 2024 comedy special, 'The Skinny.' “People will come up to me and accuse me of being on an appetite suppressant. They’re like, ‘You’re on Ozempic. Admit it, you’re on Ozempic.’ And I’m not, alright. I’m on a different one,” he joked. 'I'm on Mounjaro, which is better, right? Because it sounds like an Italian restaurant.' Gaffigan also previously addressed his weight loss during a May 2025 appearance on TODAY with Jenna & Friends. “It’s always good, you know, like, ‘The health benefit, I’ll live longer,' blah, blah, blah, but I love it just because I feel better,” he said. “And, you know, some of it is, I did have appetite suppressants. So it’s not like I can even take any pride in it. I was brave enough to stick a needle in stomach, you know what I mean,” he joked before turning more serious and saying, “It is great. It’s beneficial.”
