Jim Brown's celebration of life was an appropriate and powerful way to begin the Hall of Fame weekend in Northeast Ohio.
Former Browns players to attend included Joe Thomas, who is being inducted to the Hall of Fame on Saturday, Bernie Kosar, Paul Warfield, Joe Haden, Eric Metcalf, Kevin Mack, D’Qwell Jackson and Reggie Langhorn.
. The legend had been estranged from the organization for a few years during the prior regime when then-team president Mike Holmgren demoted him from his role as executive advisor to the club. Brown was brought back in and made an advisor to the club in 2013 by Jimmy and Dee Haslam. “I hope everybody continues to celebrate his life,” Johnson said. “I miss him. I saw him three weeks before he passed. When I saw him, I kissed him on his forehead. I looked at Monique, I said, big fella is something else. He’s the only father I know. He’s the only father I’ll always know.”
The afternoon closed out with remarks from Brown’s former teammate John Wooten and his wife, Monique Brown.
