The New York Jets have made a surprising move, trading for star wide receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders in a bid to salvage their disappointing season. The trade comes after the Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh and are desperate to improve their chances of making a Super Bowl run.
The New York Jets have lost three straight and are trying to salvage their overhyped Super Bowl chances. Last week they fired head coach Robert Saleh, this week they’re reuniting star wide receiver Davante Adams with Aaron Rodgers. Adams ’ time with the Las Vegas Raiders is over after less than three seasons. Historically, a trade involving the Jets and a played named Adams involves a couple of first-round picks and a market-setting contract extension, but this is not the case.
New York will be taking on all of Adams’ remaining salary for the 2024 season, which is a little over $11 million. His cap number balloons to over $36 million over the final two seasons of the deal the Raiders gave him when they acquired him back in 2022. This also means that Adams will land on the Seattle Seahawks’ already very difficult schedule. Seattle faces the Jets at MetLife Stadium on Dec. 1.
