The New York Jets might have to deal with the Titans and mother nature.
New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson smiles on the sideline during the second quarter against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022 in East Rutherford, N.J.And it looks like the Jets will have to deal with more than just the Titans and the pressure of avoiding an 0-2 start: Sunday’s weather forecast is calling for rain in Nashville, which could impact quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Jets’ defense.
What kind of a an impact would rain have on Rodgers? That’ll depend on a number of factors, including how cautious the Jets are with their 40-year-old quarterback in terms of calling the game. They decided to sit Rodgers during August’s rainy joint practice against the Commanders, out of an abundance of caution. Rodgers has a history of playing well in the rain, averaging 20. According to Tru Media Rodgers has started in 11 games in which it was raining at kickoff and still averaged 20.
The Jest struggled to get their run game going against the 49ers, which could make the rain problematic for them on Sunday. But we also know that receiver Garrett Wilson is comfortable with precipitation: he dominated the joint practice against the Commanders, which included heavy downpours, and Wilson’s last two-touchdown game came in November of 2022 during a rainy win over the Bears at MetLife Stadium.
Lose in Nashville and the Jets will be at the center of a firestorm of criticism from their fans and national pundits leading into next Thursday’s game against the Patriots. If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
