Jets cornerback Sauce Gadner sat out for several plays in the second quarter Monday night.
New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner stood on the sideline for nine snaps in the second quarter of Monday's game against the 49ers.The Jets offered a simple explanation for the bizarre scene that played out late in the second quarter of Monday night’s 32-19 loss to the 49ers, as Gardner watched from the sideline, helmet in hand for nine plays, for no apparent reason as the 49ers drove down the field.
“Oh, man. It was a tackle that I made and I just had to get my wind back,” Gardner said. “When I felt like I was good, I went back on the field.” While Gardner was on the sideline, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy went 6-of-6 as his team marched down the field for a field goal to take a 16-7 lead into halftime.
