The New York Jets and four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers appear to be parting ways, according to FOX Sports. The team reportedly informed Rodgers that they want to move in a different direction, leaving his future with the franchise uncertain.

The New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers appear to be heading for a separation. FOX Sports reported hours before Super Bowl LIX on Sunday that the Jets informed the four-time MVP that they want to move in a different direction. It remains unclear how this transition will unfold, whether it will be an outright release or a trade.

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer suggested that Rodgers' recent trip to New Jersey to meet with Jets management may indicate that he intends to pursue at least one more season with a different team. Rodgers spent two seasons with the Jets. His first season was cut short by an Achilles tear in Week 1 of the 2023 season. He bounced back from the devastating injury to play the full 2024 season, but the team fell short of making the playoffs. Following their Week 18 victory over the Miami Dolphins, Rodgers addressed his future, stating, 'We'll have the conversations in the next few days. Whatever happens out of there, I don't know if anything will be definitive coming out of those. But I just need some time away to think about my future in the game, and my future here if they want me to be a part of the next phase or if they're ready to move on. Either way, I'm thankful for my two years here.' New Jets head coach Aaron Glenn offered no definitive insight into Rodgers' status during his introductory press conference last month. When repeatedly asked about Rodgers, Glenn stated, 'If you are going to continue to ask me the same question, I’m gonna give you the same answer. We’re still in evaluation mode. So if anybody else is going to ask that, I’m going to give you the same answer. So don’t waste your time. We clear?' When pressed about his quarterback criteria, Glenn responded, 'A winner.' The Jets hold the No. 7 pick in the 2025 draft
