The Jets have been road warriors this season, winning their first four road games. On Sunday, they were road kill.
The Bills beat the Jets 20-12 at Highmark Stadium and battered them in the process. The Jets lost defensive tackle Quinnen Williams in the second quarter to a left calf injury. The Bills also blasted quarterback Mike White so hard that it knocked him out of the game twice with sore ribs.
Just before Bass’ field goal, White came jogging out of the stadium tunnel with his helmet on and was able to reenter the game. They moved it to the Bills’ 28 when running back Michael Carter fumbled with 5:34 left and it was recovered by Milano at the 23, seemingly ending any hopes of a dramatic comeback for White and the Jets.
Josh Allen looked out of sync early and the Jets’ defense was getting after him. Williams had two sacks in the game, bringing his season total to 11 before he injured his calf. It is unclear how long Williams will be out. The game remained scoreless until the Bills mounted a seven-play, 59-yard drive just before halftime that was assisted by Jets penalties. The biggest play came on a fourth-and-1 when it appeared the Bills were just trying to lure the Jets to jump offside and they did. The Bills motioned tight end Dawson Knox under center and linebacker C.J. Mosley jumped over the offensive line to hit Knox, but the Bills did not snap the ball and Mosley’s penalty gave the Bills a first down.
