The 2024 season has been a disaster for the New York Jets . They started with a loss against the San Francisco 49ers, followed by two wins against the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots. However, they then lost to the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings, bringing their record to 2-3. In a surprising move, the Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh after Week 5. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich took over as the interim head coach .
Ulbrich, primarily a defensive coordinator, won't be the long-term solution. The Jets will begin interviewing candidates for their open head coaching position. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that the Jets are set to start their head coach search as early as this week. Pelissero also reported that the Jets are scheduled to interview Ron Rivera for their head coaching job this week. Rivera has coached for the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders, most recently in 2023.
