New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his first public comments since suffering an Achilles injury Monday night.
“The night is darkest before the dawn. And I shall rise yet again,” Rodgers wrote.
Rodgers turns 40 in December. And his return won’t be an easy process. But those closest to Rodgers, like Pat McAfee and A.J. Hawk, said Tuesday on ESPN they believed he’d try to make a comeback.“I’d be shocked if this is the way he’s going to go out,” Saleh said. “But at the same time for him, he’s working through a whole lot of things that he needs to deal with.”
The first thing on that list is surgery. But if Rodgers does choose to come back there’s every reason to believe he can be ready for Week 1 of 2024. As for what the Jets can do without him, that remains to be seen. But they’re off to a good start, somehow managing a come-from-behind win over the Bills on Monday night.
“Proud of my guys, 1-0 🛩️,” Rodgers wrote on Instagram, his post including a picture of him entering MetLife Stadium with an American Flag and sitting on the turf after the injury.“Thank you to every person that has reached out, called, texted, DM’d, connected through a friend, etc. It has meant a ton to me, and I’ll try and get back to all of you soon 🥹❤️I’m completely heartbroken and moving through all of the emotions, but deeply touched and humbled by the support and love.
