Jessica Yeaton and David Norris take Tour of Anchorage ski titles.

Jessica Yeaton wins the 50k freestyle in the Tour of Anchorage at Kincaid Park in Anchorage, AK on Sunday, March 6, 2022. of the lead pack of skiers at the 50-kilometer Tour of Anchorage cross-country ski race.

While the meddlesome moose in 2021 was on the Coastal Trail, the 2022 disruptor halted a large group of racers near the Spencer Loop, within the first 5 or 6 kilometers of the race. “They walked right behind Thomas and right in front of me,” he said. “Last year , we made an agreement. This year there wasn’t much we could do. A few more people showed up behind me, and gradually it started wandering its way down the trail until if found a nice hard patch of snow to get off” the trail.

But endurance clearly wasn’t an issue for Yeaton, who said she tried to put it into overdrive heading up the hills as she neared the finish at Kincaid Park. With sunny and warm conditions and fresh snow on the trail, Yeaton joked that it was almost difficult to concentrate on the race.
